Finland’s most significant documentary film event DocPoint – Helsinki Documentary Film Festival will take place 31.1.-5.2.2023 in cinemas in Helsinki and partly online. Submissions for the Finnish programme and the student programme are now open. You can find the submission form here. The rules and regulations can be found here.
At the end of the festival, the best Finnish film and the best international film will be awarded with the DocPoint YLE Award. The award will be handed out by a jury consisting of international industry experts. Both awards are worth 5000 euros.
DocPoint will be yet again bringing to Helsinki the best new Finnish documentaries as well as a wide range of current and relevant international documentaries. This year the festival focuses specifically on gender and its representations and personal films. As a new feature, the festival will dedicate a series to music documentaries as well works positioned between audiovisual art and documentary. The festival will also be attended by a group of international industry guests.
The festival programme will be curated by Head of Programming, Inka Achté, who started in the position in 2022.
