Sinéad O’Shea is a filmmaker and an experienced journalist based in Dublin. During her career, O’Shea has directed and produced over 100 films and reports for Al Jazeera, BBC and the New York Times to name a few. She has won several awards for her journalism in Ireland and her first feature documentary film A Mother Brings her Son to be Shot (2017) was one of the most watched documentaries of 2018 in Ireland. The film has toured several film festivals around the world and it was nominated for the FACT Award in CPH:DOX 2018.
O’Shea’s latest film Pray for Our Sinners is part of DocPoint’s program this year. The film is about the systematic violence of the catholic church in Ireland and tells the touching story of its victims. The film is set in the director’s hometown and it won the Best Documentary Award at the Hamptons International Film Festival in 2022.
