Renata Ferraz is a Brazil-born director and actor who lives in Lisbon. For two decades, Ferraz worked as an actor in theatre, after which she started making video art and short films. Her film Rising Sun Blues, a part of the DocPoint programme, was influenced by the director’s acting background and her interest in a collective and experimental filmmaking process. The director’s debut feature foregoes traditional methods of storytelling. The film was directed in collaboration with Maria Roxo, a former sex worker.
