Italian Michele Pennetta (1984) graduated with an arts degree in 2008, and a Masters in film two years later. Pennetta’s first feature-length documentary, Fishing Bodies (2016), had its premiere at Locarno Film Festival. Pennetta’s new Sicily-scened Il Mio Corpo held its international premiere amongst Cannes’s ACID lineup, and will compete in DocPoint’s International Competition series this year. Innovatively blurring the line between documentary and fiction, Il Mio Corpo depicts with brusque tenderness two interweaving stories: local boy Oscar from a poverty-stricken family, and the immigrant Stanley who left his Nigerian home behind. The film will hold its Nordic premiere at DocPoint.
