Jannik Splidsboel studied film and art in Copenhagen and Rome and graduated from EAVE. Since the early 1990s, he has worked as a creative producer for RAI, Canal + and ZDF among others, on art, culture, youth – and more. Since 2008, Jannik has been a dramaturgical and artistic consultant and teaches creative writing, pitch, development, and production.
Jannik Splidsboel has also been active as a documentary film director with a dozen features and short films. His films have been praised internationally, including at the Berlinale and IDFA. He both wrote and directed Misfits, about LGBTQ young people in the American Bible belt. His latest film Being Eriko won best Nordic:Dox award at CPH:DOX 2020 and he produced the multi award winning film Tsumu – Where Do You Go With Your Dreams?.
Splidsboel is currently Commissioning Editor for documentary films at Swedish Film Institute. He participates at DocPoint in the Director’s Gaze and Signature Seminar, as well as the screening of his film Being Eriko on Wed, Feb 1.
