Gianfranco Rosi

Born in Eritrea, and raised in Istanbul and Rome, Gianfranco Rosi is known for his mosaics of character chronicles, which seamlessly entwine people’s struggles living in exceptional circumstances, with the geography that connects them. Rosi’s signature thematics are present in both his directorial debut Below Sea Level, as well as his chilling El Sicario, Room 164, and even in his most recent documentary from 2020, Notturno.
