The productive and well-known documentarian and film historian Mark Cousins has always wanted to meet the famous Finnish director Pirjo Honkasalo. What better place to meet than DocPoint?

On Friday 4th February at 18-19.30 Pirjo Honkasalo meets Mark Cousins brings to viewers the meeting and discussion of two great directors. What can be expected is a conversation, dive into the world of documentary films, sharing experiences and a unique opportunity for the online audience to participate and ask questions.

The event will take place online instead of Helsinki due to the current pandemic related restrictions: Pirjo Honkasalo is in Madeira and Mark Cousins in Edinburgh. The event will be held on Zoom and the audience will have the possibility to participate in the conversation. The event will be saved for later viewing. Introduction to the directors:

Academic Pirjo Honkasalo is an award-winning and internationally acclaimed Finnish film director who has also worked as a cinematographer, film editor, producer, screenwriter and actress during his career. Her work covers both documentaries and fiction.

Mark Cousins is a Northern Irish director and writer based in Edinburgh. He is known for the series The Story of Film: An Odyssey, and Women Make Film.
