Périphérique Nord & True Bug

True Bug
Tuisku Lehto, Finland 2022
Language: Finnish
Subtitles: English

A short documentary about true bugs and humans. The short film is also a compassion practice and a small journey from human perspective to other playful ways to see.

Production notes

Périphérique Nord
A car aficionado, filmmaker Paulo Carneiro travels 2000 kilometres to meet car enthusiasts of the Portuguese community in exile. In a pop and urban universe, Périphérique Nord explores this shared passion and the freedom it provides for these exiled persons who seem to finally find there a territory of their own.

Production notes

“Each nation has its own special skill. For the Portuguese, it’s tuning cars.” So says one of the Portuguese migrants living in Switzerland, interviewed in director Paulo Carneiro’s documentary. These lonesome men speak of their biggest passion, cars. Their beautiful designs and the sounds of their brake pads. Of the care and maintenance of cars, of achieving maximum speeds. Their hobby may at first appear to be superficial materialism, but under the shiny hoods of these cars, lies something much more meaningful.
